Ronaldo's Greatest Hits
Cristiano Ronaldo has lit up the football world with his incredible skill, speed, and his knack for blowing us away with his supernatural talent. Throughout his career, Ronaldo has wowed us with some sensational goals that prove he’s one of the greatest of all time.
Now that he’s become the first player in history to score more than 850 goals, we wanted to take a trip down memory lane and look back on some of his best goals throughout his career. As a nod to this amazing achievement, let’s look at 7 of CR7’s greatest goals from throughout his career.
1. Manchester United v FC Porto (2009)
In the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals of 2009, Ronaldo pulled off a long-range goal for Manchester United that’s remembered to this day. From 40 yards out, his strike landed the ball into the top-left corner of the net, earning him the well-deserved title of UEFA’s best goal of the season that year.
2. Portugal v Hungary (2016)
From the group stages of the 2016 Euro, Ronaldo showed off his creativity with a brilliant back-heeled flick into the net. It was a moment of genius that proves he can perform at the highest level. The goal was so quick, you could barely see him flick it into the net!
3. Real Madrid v Juventus (2018)
No list of Ronaldo’s greatest goals is complete without the infamous bicycle kick. His stunning goal in the quarterfinals of the 2018 Champions League against Juventus was a moment of pure talent. He met a cross from Dani Carvajal with an acrobatic overhead kick that left the entire stadium, including the Juventus fans, in awe.
4. Real Madrid v Valencia CF (2014)
A testament to his incredible talent while playing for Real Madrid, Ronaldo’s back-heeled goal that caught everyone off guard had the entire stadium celebrating. The goal looked more like a karate move than a football goal but, either way, the interesting maneuver helped Real Madrid secure a 2-2 draw in the final minutes of the match.
5. Juventus v Sampdoria (2019)
Ronaldo has produced some amazing free-kicks and long-range strikes, but some of his most memorable goals are from when he’s defying physics in the air. With a goal that put Juventus at the top of the Serie A table, Ronaldo made an inhuman leap into the air, and headbutted the ball into the net with insane precision.
6. Manchester United v Arsenal (2009)
One of the most unbelievable freekicks ever – no other player can recreate the free-kicks that Ronaldo has been able to produce. During his prime time with Manchester United, Ronaldo gave the world a masterclass on how to free kick from roughly 35 yards out from the net. When the commentators said, “it’s too far for Ronaldo to even think about it”, he proved them wrong!
7. Manchester United v Portsmouth (2008)
He couldn’t have placed the ball in a better spot in the net if he’d tried. Given a 25-yard free kick against Portsmouth, Ronaldo used his famous knuckleball technique to score one of the Premier League’s best free-kicks of all time. With his precise aim and unwavering power, the goalkeeper didn’t even bother moving to try and stop it.
It’s hard for any player today to replicate the talent that Ronaldo has been able to show the world. With a ridiculous amount of goals, there’s no one quite like CR7. If you’re interested in seeing some of the Most Incredible Goals of All Time, check out our other blog post!
