Young Soccer Strikers to Watch For
Having a good striker on a team can elevate them to a whole other level of play. Strikers can make or break a team’s chance at scoring, and ultimately have an effect on their standings in a league. Every season new wonderkids make their way into the big leagues and prove to the world that they have what it takes to play with the legends.
While some of the strikers on this list have positioned themselves as some of the best players in both their position and on the team, some others are slowly working their way into the spotlight.
In no particular order, here are 8 of the best young strikers that you should be keeping an eye out for.
1. Jamal Musiala
Age: 20
In 2020, Jamal Musiala became Bayern Munich’s youngest ever Bundesliga player at only 17 years old – and soon after their youngest goal scorer. He’s already won the Bundesliga and German Cup three times, making him one of the most successful young soccer players.
Musiala is tall, graceful, and an effortless dribbler who can both create and score goals. Thanks to his most recent goal in the 89th minute against Koln, Bayern Munich has him to thank for their 11th Bundesliga title in a row.
2. Alexander Isak
Age: 23
In his debut Premier League season, Alexander Isak produced 10 goals in 22 appearances, as well as some astonishing set ups. Isak fans may know him best from when he produced one of the most epic assists against Everton, which had fans comparing him to the soccer legend Thierry Henry.
As a result of leaving La Liga, Isak had one of his most successful seasons yet. He was nominated for the 2022/23 Hublot Young Player of the Season and his skill level can only go up from here!
3. Goncalo Ramos
Age: 21
Do you remember the player that benched Ronaldo during Portugal’s round of 16 match vs Switzerland at the 2022 World Cup? Who then went on to score a hat-trick? Well, that was 21-year-old Goncalo Ramos.
Ramos has established himself as one of Europe’s most promising young strikers this term with 26 goals and 17 assists in 46 appearances across all competitions. Rumor has it that Manchester United could be making a very large offer to snag the Benfica striker in the upcoming summer transfer window.
4. Jonathan David
Age: 23
Johnathan David was one of the key players that led team Canada to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Although he was never able to find the back of the net at the World Cup, he was able to score 26 goals in 36 matches for LOSC Lille.
After a fantastic 2022/23 Ligue 1 season, the Canadian was nominated for the Ligue 1 player of the year. David’s speed and pace not only allows for great attacks on the pitch, but will allow him to thrive in any league he may play in.
5. Julian Alvarez
Age: 23
Alvarez must be on cloud nine after winning the World Cup, Premier League, and possibly Champions League in a time span of 7 months. Alvarez has proven to be a critical centre-forward for both his national and club team despite being alongside some talented stars.
His insane speed and dribbling skills have Manchester City wanting him on the squad for further seasons to come. Despite not being a regular starter, he has been an integral part of his team’s growth and success. Will there be another World Cup trophy in his future? We’ll have to wait and see!
6. Adam Hlozek
Age: 20
The way that Hlozek strikes a ball is said to be reminiscent of the one-and-only Zlatan Ibrahimovic. He may not be a household name yet, but he has certainly been proving himself as one of the most exciting new talents.
In 2022 he got his big move to Bayer Leverkusen where he played as a dynamic threat. Scoring goals and winning the ball in the air is what he does best, standing at 6’1”. If the Czech wonderkid continues to play and light up like other strikers his age, there could be a possibility for a massive transfer sum in the future.
7. Erling Haaland
Age: 22
It’s hard to believe that Haaland is only 22 years old and has accomplished as much as he has in only one Premier League season. He is already a multiple record breaker and has set new standards for other Premier League strikers.
Haaland is considered to be one of the best young strikers in the world, with a fantastic eye for the game. The question is, will he be able to outperform himself in the upcoming seasons? Only time will tell!
8. Youssoufa Moukoko
Age: 18
Youssoufa Moukoko made a strong first impression around the world while playing in the Under 17 Bundesliga for Dortmund. He ended up scoring 141 times in just 88 games for Dortmund’s Under 17 and Under 19 sides before joining their senior ranks.
The young striker has already become a regular starter for the Borussia Dortmund senior team and has earned his spot on the German FIFA World Cup roster. As a player who enjoys taking risks, you’re going to want to keep an eye out for him on the pitch.
