WWE Survivor Series Highlights

WWE Survivor Series WarGames 2024 delivered an unforgettable night filled with high-stakes matchups, emotional rivalries, and unexpected twists that kept fans on the edge of their seats from start to finish! This year’s WarGames was the 38th annual Survivor Series and took place on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, BC. The highly anticipated event held every year since 1987 featured fan-favourite wrestlers from the promotion’s Raw and SmackDown brand divisions. Fans had the honour of witnessing five thrilling matches, including two WarGames matches held in a double-ring steel cage. The brand-versus-brand competition never fails to deliver high-stakes entertainment and this year’s event was no exception, resulting in one of WWE’s most action-packed pay-per-views. Let’s break down the top highlights from WWE Survivor Series WarGames 2024!

Women’s WarGames Match: Rhea Ripley, Bayley, Bianca Belair, IYO SKY & Naomi vs. Nia Jax, Tiffany Stratton, Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez & Candice LeRae

The WWE Women’s WarGames was the opening match of the night, featuring Rhea Ripley, Bayley, Bianca Belair, IYO SKY, and Naomi vs. Nia Jax, Tiffany Stratton, Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez, and Candice LeRae. The women used every inch of the cage to their advantage and certainly every possible weapon at their arsenal, including a toilet seat. Longtime foes, Nia Jax and Bayley started off the night and wasted no time going after each other with everything they had. Once Naomi entered the cage with a kendo stick and a toilet lid, the tension started to rise. As each competitor came in alongside new weapons, Liv Morgan was the final star to enter with her rival, Rhea Ripley, standing tall. However, Morgan came back with a bat and with the help of her teammates, took a few swings at Ripley while she was down. The match was filled with breathtaking moves, including a synchronized flip by Iyo Sky and Tiffany Stratton from the top of the cage. As expected, the match came down to Morgan and Ripley, in which Ripley took Morgan up the turnbuckle, used the Riptide and sent the champion through to table to secure her win. A fitting end to a long-running rivalry!

LA Knight vs. Shinsuke Nakamura (United States Championship)

The next match up featured LA Knight defending the United States Championship title against the dangerous Shinsuke Nakamura in a stellar performance. Recently, LA Knight has become one of the most popular figures in the world of WWE due to his charisma and high-energy in the ring. After being off WWE programming since April, Nakamura made his unannounced return on the November 15th episode of SmackDown. In addition to being a 3-time IWGP heavyweight champion and 5-time IWGP intercontinental champion in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, Nakamura held the NXT Championship, Intercontinental Championship and United States Championship two times each in WWE, as well as winning the Royal Rumble match in 2018. Despite a solid effort by Knight, including performing a Diving Elbow Drop and an attempted Blunt Force Trauma, he was no match for Nakamura. Nakamura gouged Knight’s eyes with a Kinshasa, granting him a three-time United States champion win!

Triple Threat Match: Bron Breakker vs. Lugwig Kaiser vs. Sheamus (Intercontinental Championship)

One of the most anticipated matches of the night featured Intercontinental Champion Bron Breakker, Sheamus and Ludwig Kaiser in a pulse-pounding Triple Threat Match for Breakker's title. Breakker stole the show, as well as the hearts of fans, as he overcame two formidable opponents to retain his title. The road to this championship clash began earlier in November when Breakker’s initial title defense against Sheamus was interrupted by Ludwig Kaiser. This set the stage for a high-stakes triple threat match at Survivor Series. Sheamus, the veteran Celtic Warrior, entered the match as a serious threat to Breakker with his experience and hard-hitting style. Kaiser also brought his technical prowess and determination to the match, determined to secure his first Intercontinental Championship title. However, they were still no match against Breakker who secured his reign after hitting a Spear on Sheamus after taking out Kaiser with a brutal version of the move. This victory sets the stage for future challengers and epic feuds as Breakker continues his rise to stardom in WWE!

GUNTHER vs. Damian Priest (World Heavyweight Championship)

Next up in this weekend’s electrifying WWE event was a match between World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest and ‘The Ring General’ Gunther as they tore the house down in a legendary fight. The early stages of the match consisted of Priest aggravating Gunther in sequence-after-sequence. Clearly frustrated, Gunther mixed some of the brutal shots and his skilled technical game to gain back the upper hand.   Priest got Gunther into a triangle choke that Gunther was able to get out of, and the champion went right into the sleeper hold. When Priest got out of it, Gunther attempted to use the Powerbomb, a move that has put away so many people, with no luck. After Priest ended up on the floor outside of the ring, Finn Balor came out and landed a stomp on Priest while the referee wasn't looking. Gunther brought Priest into the ring for a Powerbomb and finished it off with a sleeper hold, knocking him out fully. The referee ended the match with Gunther as champion, despite the interference leading to his victory.

Men’s WarGames Match: Roman Reigns, Sami Zayn, The Usos & CM Punk vs. The Bloodline & Bronson Reed

Finally, the heart-pounding WWE Survivor Series WarGames concluded with the Men’s WarGames match, referred to as OG Bloodline vs. New Bloodline. This year’s main event match featured the team of Roman Reigns, Sami Zayn, The Usos (Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso), and CM Punk vs. the team of The Bloodline (Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, and Jacob Fatu) and Bronson Reed as they face off in a long-awaited war. Jey Uso and Tama Tonga started off the war before Bronson Reed entered, wasting no time before fighting Uso. When the other half of the iconic fighting duo, Jimmy Uso, arrived, they took back the upper hand. Jacob Fatu emerged from the cage and showed off what makes him such a terrorizing figure in wrestling. The New Bloodline took advantage of Roman Reigns being locked out of the cage and began terrorizing everyone inside. Reigns decided enough was enough and climbed the cage to enter the match, leaping off the turnbuckle and taking out the entirety of The New Bloodline. After some pushback on both sides with every wrestler vying for the win, The New Bloodline was no match against the OGs. With Sikoa ending as the last man standing before the entirety of the opposing team, who eventually took him out and claimed their victory!
