What is the Beach Soccer Foundation?
Beach soccer is about so much more than what happens on the sand! While the beautiful game brings people together through exciting competitions and international events, it also has the power to create opportunities and make a positive difference in communities around the world. “The Beach Soccer Foundation” uses the sport to create positive change and support people and communities around the world. Working alongside “Beach Soccer Worldwide”, national football associations, local organizations, players, and community partners, The Beach Soccer Foundation’s efforts reach far beyond the competition. From inclusive beach soccer clinics and youth development programs to supporting women's soccer and raising awareness about skin cancer, the Foundation is helping create a more accessible and responsible future for beach soccer. Keep reading to find out more about the impact The Beach Soccer Foundation has made on the world of soccer!
What Does the Beach Soccer Foundation Do?
The Beach Soccer Foundation focuses on five main areas: gender equality, community support, sustainability, skin cancer awareness, and youth development! Each of these areas plays an important role in helping soccer continue to grow while making a positive impact on the people and communities involved in beach soccer. The Foundation is committed to supporting the continued growth of women's beach soccer and creating more opportunities for girls to get involved in the sport. Community support is another important part of the Beach Soccer Foundation's mission. This includes beach soccer clinics for people who haven’t had the opportunity to experience the sport. These clinics create welcoming and inclusive environments where people can learn new skills, build confidence, and have fun playing beach soccer.
The foundation also focuses on sustainability and protecting the beaches that make beach soccer possible! Through initiatives like community beach clean-ups or recycling and reducing the use of plastic, the organization is raising awareness about the impact we have as humans on the environment. Skin cancer awareness is also an important focus, encouraging members of the beach soccer community to understand the risks of spending time in the sun and how important protecting their skin is!
How Does the Beach Soccer Foundation Support Inclusion?
One of the most meaningful parts of The Beach Soccer Foundation's work is its commitment to making beach soccer accessible to everyone! In Batumi, Georgia, a special clinic was held during the Euro Beach Soccer League Division B, giving children and young people on the autism spectrum the opportunity to learn beach soccer in a safe environment. The clinic also involved players representing England, Slovakia, Norway, Latvia and Georgia who encouraged the participants throughout the activities and created unforgettable moments both on and off the pitch.
In March 2026, The Beach Soccer Foundation also organized an inclusive clinic that took place in Torredembarra, Spain. The event was in collaboration with Torredembarra Esports and Fundació Futbol Base Reus and took place on World Down Syndrome Day as part of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations' Sport for #OneHumanity campaign, bringing participants together for a day of learning, inclusion and beach soccer. Through adapted exercises, activities, and games, they were able to enjoy playing in a supportive environment and learn about the importance of teamwork and confidence when it comes to soccer. Beach soccer players also joined the session, showing how sport can bring people together!
How Is the Foundation Helping the Next Generation?
The Beach Soccer Foundation is also focused on helping introduce the sport to young players and creating opportunities for the next generation! In Dubai, Ambassador Walid Mohammadi and his brother Ali Muhammadi led two beach soccer clinics with the UAE Football Association under the name Beach Soccer for Tomorrow. The clinics gave girls and boys the chance to learn the fundamentals of beach soccer. Girls were also given the opportunity to attend sessions held in collaboration with Onyx FC Women and Onyx FC Girls Academy. The clinics gave young female players an opportunity to train and build confidence on the sand.
The Beach Soccer Foundation has also been involved in major beach soccer events! During the Americas Winners Cup in El Salvador, the foundation hosted educational events for players alongside a special beach soccer clinic for children with disabilities at the Flor Blanca Stadium in San Salvador. More than 200 female players and coaches attended one of the gatherings, which included discussions about the development and future of women's beach soccer, including the movement advocating for a Women's Beach Soccer World Cup. The male players gathering discussed beach soccer development and sports psychology, while also highlighting the work of The Beach Soccer Foundation and its partners. The children's clinic brought participants together with some of the best beach soccer players in the world for an hour filled with fun games and activities! Experiences like these show kids how beach soccer can go beyond competition and create meaningful connections between players and communities.
All of this work is part of a bigger vision shared by The Beach Soccer Foundation and Beach Soccer Worldwide: to grow beach soccer beyond competition! Through community initiatives, player education and inclusive clinics, the sport can help promote values like teamwork, respect, and equality. From giving children with disabilities the chance to play, to supporting girls discovering soccer for the first time, and protecting the beaches that make the game possible, The Beach Soccer Foundation is proving that beach soccer can have a huge impact on the world!
