Formula 1 Season Wrap-Up
The 2024 Formula 1 season finale treated fans to a thrilling conclusion following an unforgettable year! From action-packed battles on the track to emotional farewells, it was a finale that fans will remember for years to come. As the season closed at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, McLaren emerged victorious, winning the Constructors’ Championship title for the first time in 26 years.
Lando Norris also delivered a powerful performance, leading every lap at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix from start to finish. His win led to McLaren’s historical achievement that many fans have been waiting nearly three decades for. Norris’ teammate, Oscar Piastri, also made an indelible mark this year, helping secure crucial points throughout the season. The finale also wrapped up with Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc achieving a double podium for Ferrari, with Leclerc surging from 19th to 3rd on the grid in a thrilling comeback. Although Ferrari gave it their all in the race to F1 victory, they still didn’t stand a chance against McLaren for the Championship title.
The Formula 1 2024 season finale at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix also marked an emotional farewell for Lewis Hamilton, who completed his final race with Mercedes. Hamilton finished in fourth place as he passed George Russell on the last lap of the race, with Verstappen settling for sixth. The news that Lewis Hamilton signed a multi-year deal with Ferrari shook fans around the world prior to the 2024 season kicking off. “It’s been the greatest honour of my life,” Hamilton said, reflecting on his journey with Mercedes. After 12 years and six individual titles with the team, Hamilton is leaving to partner Charles Leclerc at the Italian team, and despite the heartfelt goodbye we can’t wait to finally see the 7-time world champion in red.
The 2024 season was more than just another year of racing—it was a celebration of the sport’s legacy and has set the stage for an exciting 2025 season. Until then, fans can reflect on the championship’s longest campaign in history and get ready for even more action, heartbreak, and inspiration when the engines power up again in the new year!
When is the next F1 race?
The next season of F1 is back to the track on March 16, 2025, as the Australian Grand Prix kickstarts the F1 season for the first time since 2019. Pre-season testing will continue to take place in Bahrain, as the country will be hosting a 3-day test starting February 26, 2025, and ending on February 28, 2025. Therefore, there’s going to be only two weeks between the end of the testing period and the first practice session in Melbourne on March 14, 2025, at Albert Park Circuit.
What is the 2025 F1 schedule?
Fans can look forward to another 24-race calendar – although there are a few new things in store for 2025. Australia will stage the opening round of the F1 season from March 14 to 16th before the Chinese Grand Prix. These changes have been made due to scheduling conflicts from Ramadan, which ruled out the Middle East from holding the opening Grand Prix of the season. Following the race in China, there will be a 2-week break before the Japanese Grand Prix with Bahrain and Saudi Arabia then hosting the fourth and fifth rounds of the season in April. Next up, we’ll be heading to Miami before Imola kick starts the European leg of the season, which finished with Baku in September.
Other changes made to the 2025 schedule include the sprint calendar. The Red Bull Ring isn’t on the sprint calendar, alongside China, Miami, Austria, Austin, Brazil, and Qatar for 2025. Their spot will be taken by Spa-Francorchamps.
