As the 2025 Formula 1 season hit its halfway mark following the British Grand Prix, fans were treated to one of the most thrilling races so far! Just when we thought the season had started to calm down a bit, Silverstone reminded us all how unpredictable British weather can be. Setting the stage for a wet-dry race that caused complete chaos until the final lap. With rain shaking up the order and tire strategy becoming more crucial than ever, even the smallest decisions had the biggest impact on the outcome of the race. From Lando Norris’ home victory triumph to Nico Hülkenberg finally achieving his long-awaited first podium dream, the past weekend event will go down in history as a pivotal moment in the 2025 Formula 1 season. Keep reading for a recap of the best highlights from the British Grand Prix and a breakdown of everything you need to know ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix!

2025 British Grand Prix Recap

The British Grand Prix delivered the perfect mix of drama, celebration, and career-defining moments for drivers! Lando Norris singlehandedly made British motorsport history with his first-ever home win, taking his team McLaren to a 1-2 finish. The weather conditions put Norris to the ultimate test, switching between wet and dry constantly, forcing teams to change their strategy at the last minute. However, despite all of the chaos, Norris appeared calm and collected from start to finish, managing his tires and pace perfectly to cross the line in first place.

Oscar Piastri came in strong at second place, after starting off the race in the lead. His setback began when he was handed a 10-second penalty for a Safety Car restart infringement, allowing Norris to take control and the lead. Norris’ British win marked his second consecutive victory after Austria and closed the championship gap to Piastri from 15 points to 8 points.

Arguably, the most surprising moment from the weekend came from Nico Hülkenberg, who after 239 race starts, finally claimed his very first Formula 1 podium! Starting 19th on the grid, the Kick Sauber driver showcased his talent and skill throughout bad weather conditions and his ability to hold off Lewis Hamilton in the final stages to finish in third place left fans speechless. Following his miraculous win after years of near misses, Hülkenberg said “I was thinking Lewis is going to give it all in front of his home crowd, and I thought: Sorry guys, it’s also my day!”

Unfortunately, other drivers didn’t experience such heroic outcomes at the race. Max Verstappen suffered a spin after the second Safety Car cost him valuable time he couldn’t get back and wet conditions exposed the many flaws in Red Bull’s low downforce setup that’s now being called a ‘gamble gone wrong.’ He finished in fifth place, feeling defeated after such a difficult race, saying the team was “no match for the McLarens.” Ferrari also experienced similar struggles with car balance issues setting them back, but they still managed to finish in fourth place. Finally, Mercedes had some hopeful moments, but when it came down to it, they couldn’t catch up to the podium finishers!

2025 Belgian Grand Prix

Now that we have a short pause before the F1 season continues, fans are eagerly awaiting the Belgian Grand Prix taking place from July 25 to 27 at Spa-Francorchamps. The iconic Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps is one of the oldest and most legendary tracks in Formula 1 history. Located in the Ardennes Forest, the longest track on the F1 calendar at 7.004km is famously known for its fast corners and crazy elevation changes, making it one of the most technical venues to race at. Spa-Francorchamps has been around since the 1920s and has a dangerous past, with drivers racing through public roads with barely any safety barriers. It has been the cause of some tragedies over the years, which led to major changes in the overall layout to make it safer. Despite the track's evolution, it never lost its character and still challenges even the most experienced drivers, with the recent event showing us first-hand the circuit’s famous reputation for unpredictable weather in action!
