Euro 2024 Final Feature

Euro 2024 Final Feature

After an exciting season of the Euro 2024 tournament, it’s finally coming to an action-packed conclusion with the finals being held this Sunday, July 14th. Since the very beginning of the tournament, where 24 amazing teams across Europe started out, to the semi-finals that just concluded, we can hardly believe there are only 2 more countries left in the running for glory in Germany! This year’s tournament has been the most electrifying event so far, bringing together our favourite players on the grandest stage in a celebration of talent, passion, and national pride. Let’s take a look at the final teams battling it out and go over everything to expect from the highly anticipated finals event where the Euro 2024 champion will be crowned!

Spain

We’re so excited to see Spain has qualified for the final as the only side with a perfect 100% winning record! They started the quarterfinals out with a bang and scored the winning goal during extra time, 2-1 to advance to the semifinals where they dominated with a 2-1 win over France. Since the start of their journey with the European tournament, Spain has been a formidable force and has a strong chance of winning it all. With a backing of recent success and a squad of talented and experienced players like Lamine Yamal and Dani Olmo, Spain has continued to prove they have what it takes. Yamal recently became the youngest goal scorer in the history of the Euros after scoring a screamer in Spain’s semifinal victory over France. Known for their trademark possession-based style of play and mastered passing skills, Spain carries a rich history of success in European competitions. This isn’t their first time dominating in the Euros – Spain has participated in a whopping 11 European competitions, with an ongoing 12th appearance in this year’s games, and have won 3 titles overall. It’s apparent this powerhouse team is back even stronger and more determined than ever to add another title to their impressive resume. We cannot wait to see them compete in the upcoming final stage!

Here ’s a recap of Spain’s journey in EURO 2024 so far:

  • 3-0 win over Croatia in Group B in Berlin
  • 1-0 win over Italy in Group B in Gelsenkirchen
  • 1-0 win over Albania in Group B in Dusseldorf
  • 4-1 win over Georgia in the round of 16 in Cologne
  • 2-1 win over Germany in the quarterfinal in Stuttgart
  • 2-1 win over France in the semifinals in Munich

England

Arguably, the most controversial team in question at the moment is England. The team’s gearing up for their high stakes match against Spain in the finals and are under pressure for their lacking performance in this year’s 2024 Euro tournament. Their capability of winning the championship title has sparked recent debate after their match against Slovakia where they avoided elimination with seconds to spare thanks to a masterful overhead kick from Jude Bellingham. England arrived in Germany at the start of the tournament as one of the favourites thanks to a talent packed squad, featuring legends like Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham, and Phil Foden. After their win this week in the semifinals, England captain Harry Kane says, "The whole tournament speaks for itself. We do what we do. We go far in tournaments and get the job done. The boss is not afraid to make changes and do what's best for the team. People have come on and made important impacts. We are looking forward to Sunday." However, their consistent close calls to elimination have made fans and critics continue to question the tactics of manager Gareth Southgate, despite his clever decision to switch out Harry Kane with Ollie Watkins, which ultimately led them to securing their spot in the finals. England’s history of success and talented squad give them potential for victory in this year’s Euro. Following their runner-up finish in Euro 2020 and strong performances in other tournaments, England is led by legends and emerging talents, displaying a strong midfield and disciplined defense. We can’t wait to see what’s in store for England as they strive to capture their first European championship win!
