Calling all Ronaldo fans, Cristiano Ronaldo is starting a new chapter of his career, but this time it’s off the pitch! The Portuguese soccer legend is making his scripted television debut with ‘Day 1s’, a new drama series set in the world of professional soccer. Teaming up with ‘Kingsman’ director Matthew Vaughn, Ronaldo is stepping into a new role as both a star and executive producer. The cast includes Damian Lewis, former Arsenal star, Thierry Henry, and British rapper, Dave. With filming already kicking off in London, here’s everything we know about the upcoming series so far!
The new drama series ’Day 1s’ will follow the fictional story of Stanley Dalton, a UK soccer agent navigating the competitive world of professional soccer! Based on an original idea from real-life soccer agent Darren Dein, ‘Day 1s’ will explore the business behind the beautiful game and the people who help shape players’ careers. While specific plot details have yet to be released, the series promises to offer a different perspective on the sport, taking viewers behind the scenes of the deals and relationships we don’t see. The series is already being compared to ‘The Playoffs’, a Brazilian drama series that also explores the world of soccer agents. However, with Ronaldo involved both on-screen and behind the scenes, ‘Day 1s’ is already attracting plenty of attention from fans eager to see him take on this new role!
One of the most exciting parts of the new drama series is the amazing cast! Damian Lewis, known for his roles in ‘Homeland’ and ‘Billions’, is set to play Stanley Dalton, the fictional agent at the center of the story. Ronaldo is also expected to star in the series alongside executive producing, although details about his character have yet to be revealed. Former Arsenal star, Thierry Henry, is also set to star in the series, alongside British rapper, Dave, and newcomer Carlotta Banat. The combination of soccer legends and established actors makes this an interesting watch for fans. The series is also the first television production from UR•Marv Studios, an independent film studio launched by Ronaldo and Matthew Vaughn. Known for directing the Kingsman franchise, X-Men: First Class and Layer Cake, Vaughn brings plenty of filmmaking experience to the project!
Filming has reportedly already begun in London, but an official release date has not yet been announced! The series also hasn’t confirmed a streaming platform or TV network, so fans will have to wait a little longer to find out where they can watch it.
With a story centered on the business side of professional soccer and a cast featuring lots of recognizable names, ‘Day 1s’ is shaping up to be an exciting new watch for soccer fans. Whether you’re curious to see Ronaldo on the big screen as an actor or want a closer look at the life of a soccer agent, be sure to add this series to your must-watch list!
