How did Women's Euro 2025 qualifying work?
The qualifying process for the upcoming tournament involved teams being divided into three leagues based on their results in the 2023-24 UEFA Women’s Nations League. League A and B both had 16 teams, and the remaining teams were placed in League C. Teams played in groups of 3 or 4, competing over six match days with both home and away games.
The top eight teams in League A were automatically qualified for the tournament in Switzerland. The remaining spots were chosen through two rounds of play-offs. In the 1st round, the 3rd and 4th place teams from League A faced the winners and top-ranking teams from League C. The eight winners advanced to the second round. In League B, the three group winners (excluding Switzerland) and the highest ranked runners-up were drawn against the remaining runners-up, third-place finishers, and fourth-place team. The six winners then moved onto the second round. In the second round, the teams were drawn into seven matchups with the winners of each qualifying for the final tournament.
